Having now used IC for almost 3 years and having vetted other CLMs, I can say that IC is the one that is most comprehensive; it delivers a flawless CM process both during negotiation and post-execution. It integrates quite nicely with my org's ERP and GRC SaaS. I've also noticed less downtime/outages in the last few months, which is nice. The AI features are also awesome, especially for importing standalone records into the repository. I also appreciate the comprehensive documentation and learning resources.

Limitations

  • Steep learning curve: Ironclad was built by legal experts for legal experts. It can be complex for non-legal users.
  • Frequent product updates: The velocity of new releases makes the platform overwhelming. Recent updates have affected the Repository and Reporting functionalities.
  • Expensive: Ironclad is priced for enterprise organizations, making it unsuitable for smaller organizations and budget-conscious buyers.

The business model seems to have shifted to more of a "self serve" by way of searching through Help Topics and Community Forums. I understand the theory behind this, however, these platforms are not structured in a way to be helpful for anything beyond basic questions. Until you have the right on line support in place to support more complex issues we still need to have an actual person to speak with. It would be helpful to have an actual customer support line for assistance.

SpotDraft makes it easy to write and execute contracts in less time. You can also upload all your existing contracts to the software in a very short period.

Limitations

  • Rigid templates: Any updates to workflow templates need to be configured at the backend, making it difficult for users to modify them independently. Admin controls, user set up and access are relatively complex.
  • Underdeveloped AI: Users report that the AI requires heavy human intervention, falling short of expectations created by marketing.
  • UX/UI issues: The platform is lacking in quality of life aspects, making it difficult to navigate and adopt.

We have signed up to LS Analyze. Such a game changing and easy to use tool. It will supercharge our legal function. The support from LS is 2nd to none too!

Standout Features and/or Strengths:

1. Ease and speed of use

2. Single point of truth for all contracts

3. Easy and super quick uploading and AI analyzing (with Smart Tags) of contracts

4. Amazing and very friendly and informative training

5. Amazing after sales service and user support

g2-rating
Verified User in Legal Services

I've been using LS for all things contracts, and everything has been smooth so far. I use LS to draft/create contracts, as well as sending them out to counterparties, sharing/receiving redlines, all the way to sending out for e-signatures. I also love the functionality that allows any user to use the template feature to create contracts easily, which saves previous time.

Limitations

  • Expensive modular pricing: The costs of every add-on user and feature is expensive and inaccessible to smaller growing teams
  • Inaccurate AI: AI tags upon import need to be entered manually corrected.

  • Aggressive sales: Users report the sales team as “pushy” when it comes to upselling.

Main Issues or Weaknesses: To be honest, there really aren't any, but if I had to offer a few I would say they are:

1. Cost of adding bespoke Smart Tags/Fields

2. Cost of adding additional administrators vs standard users

3. Slightly pushy sakes team when it comes to upselling

A stand out for us is the level of service and support you receive from the team, from onboarding to day-to-day queries, they consistently go above and beyond to ensure you're getting the most out of the platform.

g2-rating
Verified User in Online Media

I believe Juro is for the type of client that has frequent, repetitive Order Forms, so for bespoke or highly detailed/bespoke contracts it is more difficult to automate.

Limitations

  • Unreliable access and alerts: Juro does not have granular access controls and conditional logic for higher complexity contracts. Email alerts don’t always reach the intended recipient and require manual follow-ups.
  • No bulk processing: Given the robust automations, users find the lack of bulk processing disappointing.
  • Complex integrations: Integrating with CRMs is complex and it does not connect with other tools like Google Drive and Adobe Sign very well.

The platform is super easy to navigate. I've never opened any tutorial or FAQ. All the actions are straightforward and intuitive. Great user experience.

Limitations

  • Complex pricing: Docusign’s cost structure is complex with expensive add-ons, and forced service plans, making it unaffordable for small-scale companies. Read Docusign CLM Pricing Guide to make an informed decision
  • Unreliable support: Support teams clearly prioritize enterprise clients. Users also report difficulty in timely support through email or chat despite premium pricing

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which CLM software is actually best for my company?
The 'best' platform depends on your specific priorities. Based on our analysis:

  • Fastest, most reliable implementation: HyperStart

  • Premium user experience (at premium price): Juro

  • Enterprise brand recognition: LinkSquares or Ironclad

  • Maximum customization: Agiloft

  • Simplest, most affordable: ContractWorks

Consider your risk tolerance, budget, timeline, and team technical capabilities.
Why do so many CLM implementations fail?
Our research identified common failure patterns:

Unrealistic vendor timeline promises (60 days promised, 6 months actual), underestimating integration complexity, insufficient user training and change management, hidden costs exceeding budgets, and AI capabilities not meeting expectations.

Choose vendors with proven implementation track records and realistic timelines.
How important is AI accuracy in CLM software?
Extremely important for ROI realization. Our analysis shows:

  • • 95%+ accuracy: Significant time savings, high user satisfaction

  • • 85-90% accuracy: Moderate benefits, some manual correction needed

  • • <85% accuracy: Limited time savings, user frustration common.

Verify AI accuracy with your actual contracts, not vendor demonstrations.
What are the security features of contract management software?
Among the enterprise-grade protocols of security are data encryption & infrastructure, cybersecurity & operational security, and contract security for third-party review. Other compliance & certifications include GDPR & HIPAA, SOC1 & SOC2 Type II, and ISO27001/17/18.
What's a realistic budget for CLM software?
Total CLM costs vary significantly:

  • • Small businesses: $2,000-8,000/month total cost

  • • Mid-market: $8,000-25,000/month total cost;

  • • Enterprise: $25,000-100,000+/month total cost.
Remember to also account for implementation, training, and integration costs.
Should I choose a newer platform like HyperStart or stick with established vendors?
Consider these factors: Newer platforms often have modern technology, better user experience, more responsive support; Established vendors have greater market recognition, more integration options, longer track records. Our analysis suggests performance and implementation success matter more than brand age. HyperStart's 100% implementation success rate and all in one solution outweighs its newer market presence.

The Final Word: Make Your CLM Decision

After analyzing 35+ platforms and 1,000+ user experiences, the data reveals what actually drives CLM success:

icon-img

Implementation beats features every time
The most advanced AI is useless if you can't deploy it successfully. HyperStart's 100% implementation success rate stands out in an industry where 60% of projects face delays or failures.

icon-img

Verify AI claims with your contracts, not demos
Most vendors showcase perfect documents that don't reflect real-world complexity. Test accuracy with your actual contracts before committing.

Factor in total costs upfront
Hidden implementation fees often double budgets. Choose transparent, all-inclusive pricing to avoid surprises.
